Summer 2010 Timeline:

April 17th - Registration is OPEN 

May 26th - Registration Closes

May 27th-31st - Coach Selection/Team Formation

June 3rd - Coaches Meeting

June 5th - Practices Begin/Equipment and Jersey Pick-Up (must have completed coaching application and background check)

June 9th - Games Begin

Late July (exact date TBA) - Regular Season and Playoffs end

What we offer in the Summer:

• 8 Game Regular Season

• Single elimination Playoffs for all teams

• Reversible Jerseys

• Practice Gyms as CFISD Middle Schools (8 practices per team)

• Two TASO Officials at each game

• Paid score keeper

FAQs:

1) When do practices start, what times will we practice, and on what days do we practice

- Practices will start the first week in June

- Online gym and time slots are posted and selected by your coach

- Week nights slots are 6 p.m., 7 p.m., & 8 p.m. while Saturdays start at 9 a.m. and end usually around 4 p.m.

2) When do Games start and what days and times can we expect to play

- Games start June 7th, regular season concludes in late July, Playoffs end by July 31st

- About 50% of the games will be played on week nights and the other 50% on Saturdays

- CFSA has reserved CFISD middle schools for this summer where we will practice and play most if not all of our games

3) How are teams formed

- Select league choose their own team

- Girls league can choose their own teams, but if girls don't have a team they will be placed by school first, then if not enough players we will select the nearest school in proximity to fill out the team. 

Example: Robison has 4 kids, Lamkin has 7, Ault 3, and Keith 2.  We will group Robision, Ault, and Keith together even though Lamkin is closer to Robision because adding Lamkin and Robison exceeds our 10 kid limit.  We try to avoid splitting kids up who attend the same school.  Splitting does occur, but only if the school has more than 10 children signing up.

- Classic league will be formed the same as the example above

4) SELECT BASKETBALL:

- Select Basketball is offered for 10U, 11U, JV and HS divisions and offers the ability for coaches to choose their players.

- Registration for a Select team will be $160 per player.  Registration will take place in person at the CFSA office paid with a single check

- Select teams will provide their own jerseys

- Select Players without a coach can list their availability on the Available Players link.

5) What costs do my registration fees pay for

- Your registration fee pays for Officials and time/score keeper for 8 games plus playoffs, the use of CFISD gyms for games and practice which are $40 per hour, uniforms, equipment, championship and runner up trophies, championship shirts, and some minor registration fees  (ie. registration forms).  Younger ages pay less then older ages due to the experience level of the official and High School plays 8 minute quarters.

6) What age group / division should I register my child for

Divisions are based on the following birthdates.  Please select the correct age division when registering.  You can always request your child to play up one division, but that request needs to go through your division commissioner.  Selecting the upper division during registration will not put him in the upper division.  Note the girls league is only for girls between the ages of 8 and 12 (September 1, 1997 - August 31, 2002).
